Not Grandma's Recipe
After weeks of craving corned beef and cabbage, I finally fixed it, while happily snowed-in during the historic blizzard of 2010. As tasty as it was, it wasn't quite the corned beef I remember having at grandma's.Afterward, we went for a walk in the neighborhood. Click on the album for pictures.

Dinner at PS7

Not Much Better Than This
Steak (with extra fat), fried eggs, peppers and onions, and toast.
As if being snowed-in with my best friend on a Monday wasn't great enough, he cooked, and I was served breakfast in bed too.

Monmartre
Onglet Aux Echalotes Et Pommes De Terre Sautees
Hanger steak with carmelized shallot, sauteed fingerling potatoes and red wine sauce
...after a glass of wine (or two, maybe three) I left uttering ooh la la all the way home...
Ventured to Monmartre on Capitol Hill for dinner last night. The food was amazing, as was the company, my BFF from second grade. We shared mussels in a curry sauce and escargot in a buttery pesto sauce. I then ate (I'm embarassed to say) meat and potatoes for yet another night. The steak was so tender but not more tender than my pot roast, I must say so myself. We were both more than satisfied and after a glass of wine (or two, maybe three) I left uttering ooh la la all the way home.
