Ridiculous.
What could have been a quaint dinner for two at Guajillo turned into to 'Monster Mexican' carryout because Malcolm couldn't handle not finishing his dinner in public. The normal sized flan was great!
His & Hers Burritos
(Yes, that is an aluminum chafing dish!)

Flan to go.

I'll Have That with a Side of Faith
lamb sausage grilled with spicy tomato concassee and white beans
blackened chicken salad with caesar dressing
Another amazing lunch at Village Bistro with Katrina yielded not only a satisfied tummy, but a satisfaction that will stay with me forever. We'll call it a moveable feast. Ernest Hemingway wrote "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast."
Lunch with Katrina was just that. One hour of food, fun and a friend. We discsussed marriage, business, discipline, dreams, ambitions and journeys (near and far). But as I sit and type about what should be food, I realize I walked away from lunch with a renewed sense of faith. Not just faith in our Father, but faith in people and their kindness and their generosity. A sense of faith that brings even a tear to my eye as I type. I am so blessed. So amazingly blessed. For much like Hemingway, if you are lucky enough to have had lunch with Katrina and dined on lamb and blackened chicken and shared and dared to dream, then wherever I go for the rest of my life, it will stay with me...for food, fun, friends, and faith are a moveable feast.
I'll drink to that.

Softshell Crabs for Lunch

A delightful celebratory lunch with Carrie at Village Bistro afforded me the opportunity to dine on softshell crabs and fettucine. While it was a bit too rich for an early lunch, I will definitely try it again; perhaps when it can be accompanied with a glass of wine.

Monmartre
Onglet Aux Echalotes Et Pommes De Terre Sautees
Hanger steak with carmelized shallot, sauteed fingerling potatoes and red wine sauce
...after a glass of wine (or two, maybe three) I left uttering ooh la la all the way home...
Ventured to Monmartre on Capitol Hill for dinner last night. The food was amazing, as was the company, my BFF from second grade. We shared mussels in a curry sauce and escargot in a buttery pesto sauce. I then ate (I'm embarassed to say) meat and potatoes for yet another night. The steak was so tender but not more tender than my pot roast, I must say so myself. We were both more than satisfied and after a glass of wine (or two, maybe three) I left uttering ooh la la all the way home.
